I needed a PC that would hold, edit and display images. Not only does this computer meet all my expectations, but it is fast, portable and lightweight. The screen is incredibly bright and I find the keyboard easy to navigate. The mouse was too sensitive for me, and with Windows 7 help, I rectified the problem. I have used various computers/operating systems/drivers for 35+ years and this Acer rises to the top for ease of use, speed and capacity. A long battery time is not a priority for me, but its portability is.

This product is well designed and offers good performance. The screen is big, wide and bright. The built-in numeric keypad is a plus. With plenty of RAM, a big hard drive and a Core 2 Duo processor, it offers snappy performance and should continue to do so for quite some time. Battery life is respectable; although I have mine plugged in most of the time, so battery is not that important a consideration for me. For some reason, it feels lighter than it actually is. The touchpad does seem a bit sluggish, but I haven’t adjusted that yet and I’m guessing that can probably be remedied.

If it weren’t for some annoyances – some minor, some not so minor – I’d give it five stars. For some reason, it has a hard time connecting to my home wireless network, based on a Linksys WRT110 router. Several other notebooks have had no problem connecting to this network, so I have to conclude it’s an issue with the notebook and not the router. I’ll give Acer the benefit of the doubt and say that this issue probably doesn’t affect all their notebooks or even all units from this particular product line. Also, about every hour or so, a message pops up that this product is already registered with Acer. It’s relatively minor, but it is annoying. And then of course there’s the bundled programs that are constantly wanting you to register, etc. That kind of bundled software is not unique to this system or to Acer, however, so don’t let that sway you. You’re going to find that with almost any system these days, unfortunately.

All in all, this is simply an outstanding value for what you get. I would recommend it despite the minor flaws I find in it,

This laptop is amazing. the screen is brilliant, sound is great, has a lot of awesome features and best of all windows 7 runs like a well oiled machine. The price is what attracted me to this machine in the first place but i was blown away when i used it. The processor is great and 4 gigs of RAM is plenty plus a 500 gig HD is nice. Overall it is a must buy at this price when compared to more expensive machines.

I am pleased with the laptop. It may provide my needs. I had to send it in to Acer in 2 weeks after purchase. The SD card slot and web cam did not function. The time was ample to receive it back almost 10 days. Withing a month after receiving it, a message that Windows 7 was not geniune and Acer had to reset it back to date of receipt and I lost my programs. Otherwise, it seems okay but I don’t trust leaving photos on it in case of another loss. I like the features on it and I think it is about as good as any other. For the price, I would recommend it for purchase.

A review video taken on the Acer Aspire 5738-6969’s built-in webcam. It’s pretty good quality.

I’ve had the computer for about a month now since this video was taken and it is still running great. I really like it!

    A couple more notes:

The widescreen format is nice for movies (what I wanted) but the keyboard is thus not centered relative to the screen.

    Snappy processing and memory.

    Acer makes great-quality products.

Acer Backup Manager doesn’t work so well. But Window’s 7 Backup Manager works pretty well as a replacement.

    Great sound.

    Great price.
